The Goonies but Slay that ish’

The Goonies but Slay that ish’

Instagram influencers who love second hand shopping.

Whenever I find myself in a funk, I turn into Dora The Explorer. I grab my trusty map (my phone), pull up on Bootz (my best friend) and go on a search for some unique finds.  Despite our diminishing attention spans there is something about the search for treasure that can keep children and adults engaged for hours.  This fact alone is possibly the driving force behind the popularity of thrifting and discount stores, shopping second hand is like Treasure Island, the best part is the hunt.  Ruffling through the racks and deep diving into piles of hidden gems is a joy that can only be matched by a Happy Hour or Taco Tuesday.

If you can’t make it out to your local thrift store, there are so many great Instagram influencers and bloggers who are all about shopping second hand.  When looking for style inspiration, I try to avoid my timeline, head straight to my search bar and let myself fall into a rabbit hole of hashtags and color blocking.  By the end of it I always come out with tons of undiscovered accounts to follow and new styling tricks to try.

Check out some of these amazing accounts.

Name: Justin Age: 27 Location: PG County, MD

2nd Street: Why do you love shopping second hand?

Justin: It gives me a chance to create new styles, be unique and help save the earth.

2nd Street: How has developing your personal style impacted your life?

Justin: It has impacted my life in a very unique way.  It allowed me to express myself in many ways that don’t require me to say anything.  If I’m feeling down, my clothes can be that pick me up that I need.  It’s a conversation starter in the middle of a crowd, a memory in someone’s childhood and many other things.

Lee does not stray from color or accessories. His feed is full of all the things that excite us; bags, rings, chains and all the best favorite toppings needed to create the perfect Sunday funday look.

@slickcici

Name: Ciara Age: 26 Location: Connecticut

2nd Street: What is your favorite thrifted piece?

Ciara: Favorite thrifted piece would have to be my Dr. Martens because I looked so long for the perfect pair and knew I’d get a ton of use out of them.

2nd Street: Why do you love shopping second hand?

Ciara: I love thrifting because it helps the environment and I can always find unique, quality pieces that I couldn't find anywhere else.

If you’re not talking bold and major, are you even speaking at all? Fashion talks before you even open your mouth and this shorties style is screaming “ I got drip for sell”.  If you love mixing prints, colors and shapes this feed is perfect for you.
