2nd STREET Spotlight - Tia

We’re taking a break from highlighting 2ndSTREET’s trendy clothing to shine a spotlight on 2ndSTREET’s staff instead! You’ve gotten to know our inventory, now familiarize yourself with one of our PR Coordinators - Tia Vanlandingham!

Tia is a public relations coordinator who has been working on 2ndSTREET's marketing department since January 2020. If you follow 2ndSTREET’s social media and read our articles, I can guarantee you have caught a glimpse of our influential and inspiring Tia in the mix!

Q. What is the most unique part about working for 2ndSTREET?

I love working for 2ndstreet! The most unique thing about working for the company is that everything is always growing and expanding. The company has created a position for me that didn’t previously exist because they saw the need for it and felt I was the perfect person for the job. They have also created positions for countless other employees and encourage them to grow within the company. If they see you are passionate and skilled in a specific area they push you to be your absolute best and prepare you for the next step in your career.

Q. How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style, I would say, is ever changing from vintage chic to slightly avant garde. I usually don't wear very bright colors. I like to stick to neutral tones. I like vintage pieces but also statement pieces that make you turn your head. I like details, so I'm into asymmetrical cuts and sometimes multiple different fabrics all on one item.

Q. Is there a current trend that you are fully onboard with?

I’m currently fully onboard with silver/chrome jewelry, I've almost swapped out all my gold for silver which is something I never thought I'd do! Y2k fashion also has me in the chokehold, especially the accessories. Dior, Cavalli, Celine and Chanel etc. just don't make super cool items now like they used to back during the early 2000s.

Q. What is the best compliment you have ever received?

I really like compliments that aren’t based on physical things, so I think the best compliment that I’ve gotten multiple times is that I'm inspiring. Whether it's because of my work ethic or people just watching me grow over time and expressing that it has inspired them is really sweet to me.

Q. Do you have any favorite designers that are carried in 2ndSTREET stores?

My favorite designers carried in 2ndstreet are Issey Miyake, Comme Des Garcons and Bottega Veneta. I also love a good Chanel or Balenciaga bag.

Q. Is there a life motto or memorable affirmation you live by?

Be as you wish to seem - this is one of the sayings I try to live by. It is a pretty simple and straightforward saying, but I just interpret it as anything you want to seem like you are, you just have to be that. If you want to seem like a kind person then just be kind, if you want to seem like things don't bother you then you have to genuinely be unbothered by them, etc. It's so simple but a lot of people have a hard time actually practicing it.
To get to know more members of the 2ndSTREET staff, visit our website or follow us on social media! You’ll be sure to see them striking a pose somewhere!
