About the Author

Hi! I’m Kristine, your new 2nd Street blogger and (sometimes) photographer.

My intro to sustainable shopping and fashion trends probably began in my senior year of high school. Acquiring a car and driver’s license meant the world was my oyster. I began visiting vintage stores, thrift shops, and eventually even became a manager at a consignment store.

During those days, I was very vintage and grunge. (Truth be told, tumblr trends had a heavy influence on me at the time). But now that I’ve been through these yearly phases and fads, I have narrowed down the styles that best suit me and remain in my wardrobe - artsy, athleisure, and of course, classic fashion.

I am a CSULB graduate with a degree in Journalism and Gender Studies. Growing up, Spanish was my first language. So outside of ESL (English as a second language) classes, I would practice enhancing my English by reading books.

As a child, any time I stepped foot into a thrift store, my grandma knew exactly where I was headed. Discounted books meant I had a higher chance of going home with one or two. So, what initially started out as a learning tool developed into an early passion for reading and writing.

Let’s fast forward to college. Taking gender studies and journalism courses, plus working at the school’s digital/print magazine (DIG MAG) helped me figure out my writing styles - descriptive, narrative, and personal. I truly thrive writing in a mix of it all, and that is how I ended up here! As your new online writer!
